Online Employee Scheduling

How do the Scheduling Groups work (between 1-10) in the Edit Employee window?
How does it benefit the Employees and how does it affect the autofill function?

Assigning Employees to Scheduling Groups is optional and can be utilized when Autofilling schedules to give certain groups of employees an advantage over others.

When you choose the option "Fill by Scheduling Group" from the Autofill page WhenToWork takes the Employees in scheduling group 1 and calculates the best schedule for all of them, taking into account each Employee's maximum work hours and preferred times to work (if Employees have entered preferences).

Once those group Employees have been assigned, Autofill will then take the Employees in schedule group 2 and assign them to the open shifts according to their maximum hours and preferences. Once they have been placed, Autofill will continue filling groups in the same manner.

If you do not have enough shifts to give everyone their maximum hours per week, the Employees in the last (highest number) group will end up with less hours per week.

Employees can be set into scheduling groups on the Employees List page.
